What is the purpose of the Pupil Premium and how do we benefit as a school?
The Pupil Premium is a grant that schools receive from central government which is to be used for the purpose of improving the achievement and life chances of socially disadvantaged pupils. We know from national data that this group of pupils underachieves at every stage from 5 to 16 years when compared with other pupils.
Our Pupil Premium Strategy document for 2018-19 (see above) shows you how we are spending the grant in ways that will help to ensure that socially disadvantaged pupils fulfil their potential and do at least as well as their non-disadvantaged peers with similar starting points.
How much funding do we receive?
For the current year, 2018-19, we have received a total of £ £34320. At present the % of our children attract pupil premium funding is above the national average.
Any child who has been registered for Free School Meals at any point in the last six years attracts £1320.00 of Pupil Premium funding per school year.
If you think that your child could attract Pupil Premium funding through the Free School Meals eligibility criteria, please do not hesitate to contact us at the school office because this could bring additional funding into our school which can be used to provide valuable support. Rest assured that we will deal with any queries in the strictest confidence, and we can also provide help with filling in the forms if required.
Are infants eligible for Pupil premium funding?
Please note that even though all infants receive a free school meal until the end of Year 2 (under the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme), children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 can also attract valuable Pupil Premium funding for our school. If you think your child will be eligible for a Free School Meals from Year 3 onwards, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can register them for the Pupil Premium. The extra funding they attract will make a real difference to learning and achievement at Foxhole Learning Academy!
Is it true that certain children can attract an enhanced rate of Pupil premium funding?
Please note that there is an additional £1900.00 per year (known as Pupil premium plus) available for any child who:
- is adopted
- is subject to a special guardianship order
- is subject to a child arrangement order
- is subject to a residency order
